About our Convention Head.

David Echo O'Donnell, better known as Echo joined the greater Nerd Community through Game Club and Anime Club in High School.
Finding a whole new world before him and wanting to help improve the community he found he joined the staff of Anime Detour in 2009. Noticing a severe lack of a Pokémon Community he started the MPLS Pokémon DS League using Anime Detour as a base of operations to start. With this event people would be able to fight real Gym Leaders and earn real Badges of our own design just like in the Pokémon Games! In 2010 the first MPLS Pokémon DS League Challenge took place at Anime Detour and it was a roaring success! Each year following it became more and more popular and the group started to expand to more events. He started hosting the League event at other Conventions along with other Tournaments, Room Parties and Launch Parties! Eventually the idea of starting a Pokémon Convention came up as a joke. One that never went away... And over time became less and less of a joke and more of a possibility. In 2013 Echo had been talking with the U of MN Pokémon Club and they loved the idea of a Pokémon Convention! They loved it so much so they wanted to start work on it immediately! Next thing you know PokéCon 2014 was in the works as a fund raiser for the Pokémon Club! And so began PokéCon! In 2016 the U of M's Pokémon club shut down due to everyone graduating and so from that point on, Echo and Zarel (Guangcong Lou) joined together to form Elite 4 Limited a Non Profit dedicated to supporting the local Pokémon Community and to inherit PokéCon fully from the U's Club. |
